Mr. Renan Herrera, Executive Director of Innovate Iloilo, was among the distinguished speakers at the Global Youth Summit 2025 held at SM City Iloilo. In his keynote, he delivered a powerful message: the future of our cities will be shaped not only by infrastructure and technology—but by the voices, ideas, and actions of the youth.

Highlighting SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), he called on young Ilonggos to take the lead in building inclusive, resilient, and innovation-driven communities. He emphasized the youth's role as present-day leaders—equipped with energy, resilience, and fresh perspectives—and encouraged deeper collaboration with government, civil society, and the private sector.

Through Innovate Iloilo, a platform uniting public and private stakeholders to transform Iloilo into a leading innovation hub by 2030, the youth are already co-creating smart, sustainable solutions for the city.

The event was organized by SM Cares and the Global Peace Foundation Philippines, with support from the Iloilo City Government and the Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Iloilo City. It was attended by hundreds of youth from various schools and organizations across Iloilo.
