ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Iloilo-based startup Rezbin is making waves in sustainability after winning at the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards 2025.

Founded by siblings Mari and Mica Martirez, Rezbin was recognized as one of this year’s Filipinnovator Awardees of the Year. The startup joined four other winners across the country — Pili Seal, Palatak Palay Seeder, Bambujett, and Ediphi.

The National Innovation Council (NIC) and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) organized the awards to honor innovators with impactful and scalable solutions to national challenges.

Rezbin stood out for its digital rewards system that encourages proper plastic waste disposal. By working closely with local governments and partner businesses, the startup rewards individuals and communities for recycling. This system helps reduce pollution while promoting livelihood opportunities and environmental awareness in Iloilo and beyond.

Each Filipinnovator Awardee will receive a ₱3.5 million post-competition support package. The package includes mentorship, investor networking, and participation in international innovation events.

With its colorful recycling bins now visible in barangays, schools, and offices, Rezbin is changing how Ilonggos view waste. Through innovation, the startup transforms plastic into purpose — inspiring communities to take part in building a cleaner and greener future.
